Default Paying monthly for guild wars in Nightfall-look

This was taken from the new agreement and means tha we could possibly have to start paying when nightfall comes out =/ which means ill have to stop and proberly many of you will have to aswel.

"NC Interactive reserves the right to alter the fees payable for new Chapters or introduce alternative fee structures for the Service. Any alteration to the purchase price will be posted on the Web Site at least 30 days prior to such alteration taking effect. If you do not agree to any such alteration, you should not purchase the new Chapter and/or you should terminate your Account prior to the date on which the alteration takes effect, otherwise the revised amount will automatically be debited to your Account."

I am not happy about this what do you think?

Hm.. just posted in a similar thread in the Q&A forum, not sure which of the two came first. Anyway, if GW is changed to a pay-to-play game I will leave immediately. My biggest reason for playing GW over WoW is that I'll only pay for a game once on principle.

i think anet are aware that gw isnt a strong enough product and lacks enough content to be pay per month.
cant see them doing that or there will be a mass exodus of disgruntled gamers

As I said in another thread: You're paranoid.

The changed clause is related to price changes in chapters and other purchasable content. For example, if you bought Propechies for $50, and they start selling it now for only $30 (maybe in the online store?), the EULA says you can't ask for a refund of the difference.

That's it. Nothing else. No conspiracies.

Isnt it also related to the ability to buy additional slots for ones account?

It also states that this is a game which doesn't have monthly fees in that EULA.

From what I saw/remember, the addition was to the user taking full responsibility towards any additional purchases made, such as character slots so that ncsoft can tell your bank to go jump if you decide that there has been a wrongful transaction ncsoft made on your credit card.

bah, bad english, sorry.

Edit: have to edit cause 1337 speak wasnt working properly.

On topic, the day GW comes with a monthly fee is the day it dies so not likely but theres still those dumb enough to pay to play DDO so i may be wrong lol.

Wow. What the hell is wrong with you people? Every time the EULA is changed, someone else comes up with the wonderful conspiracy theory of this exact same thing. That exact paragraph has been there unchanged since release.

On release, people pointed it out. The next time it was changed, people pointed it out, and so on and so forth. There's probably like 20 different threads over the course of the release of GW about this exact same paragraph.

It clearly states being related to the fees payed for purchasing a chapter, not fees for playing it. What is so hard to understand about that? Go back to English class please.

ArenaNet will not add monthly fees to Guild Wars, 99% would leave, hardly a great business decision is it?

Common sense would really help here.

QFT. When ever someone gets paranoid they instantly turn it into a witch hunt. (Times like these I wonder if they actually like the game at all since they instantly jump into attack mode.)

guys behold the power of the word FEE mention it and everyone starts quaking in thier boots, thinking that the jig i up and nat will start charging.
lets break this down to digestible parts:
first the word itself:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fee
fee ( P ) Pronunciation Key (f)
n.
A fixed sum charged, as by an institution or by law, for a privilege: a license fee; tuition fees.
A charge for professional services: a surgeon's fee.
A tip; a gratuity.
Law. An inherited or heritable estate in land.

"NC Interactive reserves the right to alter the fees payable for new Chapters or introduce alternative fee structures for the Service.
WHAT fee will they be altering? WHAt fee is in place NOW that you are charged that can be altered?
THATS right chumley! the FEE you paid to PURCHASe the GAME and your slots!. Theya re saying they reserver the right to charge you MORE or LESS for NEW chapters NOT prophecies and factions as thease are what?? thats right OLD chapters =)

and so
or introduce alternative fee structures for the Service. which they have done already namly the online store. which is a new way to pay for content. does this mean they wont introduce a monthly fee? , nope. BUT if they DO
Any alteration to the purchase price will be posted on the Web Site at least 30 days prior to such alteration taking effect.
now i must admit this part has me confuddled because it appears to indicate that they will charge you automatically for any changes.

If you do not agree to any such alteration, you should not purchase the new Chapter and/or you should terminate your Account prior to the date on which the alteration takes effect, otherwise the revised amount will automatically be debited to your Account."

This has been brought up many times, and the community has answered it here all ready so I'll close the thread. The EULA was changed a few months back with that statement and Gaile Gray did in fact state that this is for asian countries.
